Do You draw Fire?

John 12:10 “The leading priests decided to kill Lazarus too, for it was because of him that many of the people had deserted them and believed in Jesus.”

Poor Lazarus. Isn’t enough to go through some lingering sickness and die? After all, Jesus delayed four days before returning to Bethany to heal Lazarus. It must have been an excruciating death — not just the physical illness — but also wondering why your friend hadn’t come back to heal you.

But now, just because his life is saved. Because he is different (after all, not everyone can claim that Jesus raised them from death). Because he has something to say about the savior, Lazarus has become a target.  The priests, desperate to keep their power over people, have decided to “off” him.

We know that after it happened, Lazarus gave parties in Jesus’ honor. He must not have been too quiet about what happened. In fact, the story got around enough to draw the jealousy of the leading priests. They can’t handle the competition, so they decide to kill him. So. I have just one question:

Do you draw fire? Are you loud enough about what Jesus does in your life to attract the attention of the enemy?

I don’t know about you, but I think maybe I’d better go make some noise. Only the good guys draw fire.
